Soylent Green
Back to Chuck Heston for a few.
I have always really thought that it was a shame that some promoter out there wasn’t smart enough to package up green graham crackers and call them Soylent Green, even with licensing they would have made a fortune.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
This is a rare case of a remake being as good as the original, though for very different reasons.
The original Invasion was about alienation in a small town as everyone’s friends and neighbors somehow change. But the remake is all about isolation and individuality faced by urban dwellers in the modern world.
But it is also a crackling good monster movie with fun, scary performances from by Donald Sutherland,Jeff Goldblum, Brooke Adams, Leonard Nimoy and the wonderful character actress, Veronica Cartwright.

Colossus, The Forbin Project
Colossus is another great hard science fiction film about a computer that takes over the world. Told in a sharp, straight forward manner, Eric Bradden pulls off a great performance as a Frankenstein whose creature takes over the world.

Silent Running
Finally, since we’ve talked about Bruce Dern’s save the trees classic before, but I liked the trailer and thought I’d throw it in for fun.
